Over 20,000 people took to the streets of the capital today for the Dublin Pride Parade.

From the festival launch night on the 18th June, until the Parade through O’connell Street on the 26th, Dublin’s Pride Festival offered events for all tastes and age-groups.

The Flagship event , the 2010 Dublin Pride Parade took place today, the last saturday of June.
The grand marshall of today’s parade was Dr Lydia Foy, who won a landmark legal case declaring that a person who underwent a sex change had the right to have his or her new identity recognised in official identity documents.

Last year, over 5,000 people turned out for the parade and the outdoor show that followed in the amphitheatre of the civic offices.

This year even greater numbers attended the parade, more than 20,000 according to the Irish Times, and it would appear that all of Dublin enjoyed the event despite the disruption to transport.

1,500 People Space Hop Into The Guinness Book Of World Records

1,500 People take part in a Guinness World Record attempt on Sunday afternoon at 2pm.

At 2pm on Sunday 20th June on Upper Mount St, Dublin 2, outside the Pepper Canister Church, at least 1,500 people established a new world record for the most people bouncing on space hoppers at once.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia:

A space hopper, also known as a skippyball, kangaroo ball, bouncer, hoppity hop, or hop ball, is a rubber ball (similar to an exercise ball) with handles which allow one to sit on it without falling off. The goal is to hop around with it, using the elastic properties of the ball to move forward.

The term "space hopper" is more common in the UK; the toy is less familiar in the United States, and may be known as a "hoppity hop" or some other name. A similar toy popular in the U.S. in the 1980s was the pogo ball, which has a hard plastic ring encircling the ball instead of a handle.

I had a super zoom Sony 3 yrs ago and really loved the images from the DSC-H2. But when I read people on this Website suggest a particular Sony point and shoot and also say “and you get the Carl Zeiss lens”, well to me they bought into Sony’s hype. Canon, Nikon, Fuji, even down to Kodak and Casio have equal image quality. What say you?
