Street Art-SF captures the energy and the edges of SF's Mission where a critical mass of artists have created a movement of art that memorializes the past while envisioning the future. The book will serve historically as a cultural signpost, a time where our various tribes coalesced into an aesthetic and communal "whole" of dynamic parts.

Spend time with this art book. Open it to any page and you will find a generous two-page spread filled with the imagery and poetry of what has been happening in San Francisco's Mission. I've lived in the Mission for 30 years and worked as an artist here, and yet, Mission Art brought me new insights and appreciations. Buy this book. Give it to friends.

I make documentaries about art and culture and have profiled artists like David LaChapelle and Patricia Field. Street Art San Francisco is a book that captures the most extraordinary, hip, hot pioneers of the street art movement. Of all the books about street art around the world, it is rare to find one that has the breadth and depth of history, culture, and in your face fierce photography. The essays stimulate, the poetry pulses, the photos rock, and the book is just pure fun, like the best taco in the mission its filled with sabor y style. Estoy enamorada con este libro!

A cinematic tour-de-force except it's a book! The pages are ALIVE just like the neighborhood
where the art got born - jammed with energy, color, texture, wit, pulse, reverence and irreverence
in equal measure. This deeply nourishing offering can be a tasty browsing treat or a full-course
meal. Shelf-life? Infinite.

This dynamic, inspired collection is no ordinary coffee table tome. In thoughtful, concise essays, Jacoby has included the history of muralismo, SF politics, portraits of the artists and sociological analyses of transformed neighborhoods and buildings. Anyone interested in muralismo, painting, San Francisco history and SF present will delight in this thoroughly researched, always engaging gorgeous book by Abrams.

This is a visual knockout-- a must see for anyone interested in urban art and culture. The text works as a compliment to the visuals and takes the reader on an artistic, intellectual and political ride through the Mission Disrict of San Fransico. Ms. Jacoby had the vision to recognise the District"s specialness years ago. This book has gone through a long gestation which has made it all the better since there is now moe mural art to photograph and discuss. Perhaps there will be a sequel since the District is a works in progress. I hope so. Lastly, at its price it is a super buy.
