I went to visit a friend with a telescope last night and we saw some
simply stunning sights of the moon. You just see it floating so
gracefully, right before your eyes, covered in craters and mountains.
It was a battle against the clouds, but we got a few good photos. But
nothing compares to seeing it ‘live’. It’s just wonderful. This was just
with a 28x telescope for bird watching. Imagine what we could see with a
proper astronomy telescope and a good camera!
We did also see Jupiter, and three of its moons, but it was too cloudy
to be able to photograph it successfully.

Got my new Sigma 30mm f/1.4 lens and was very eager to try it out. Just a simple test and quickly edited. NO color correction done. Converted to ProRes 422 and that’s it. Full review will be posted on robruscher.wordpress.com Video Rating: 0 / 5

large system of telescopes in the US. Still in use, and controlled

we were on.
Telescope domes on Mount John

Start of my panorama. Left dome is Boller & Chivens telescope. Closest dome is probably Earth & Sky’s
telescope on the roof of high rock tower

High Rock Tower is closed to the Public but on select nights (July-October) the city of Lynn opens it up and if you get a reservation you can go inside and look through the telescope on the roof. The tower is shaped like a rectangle and has a brick cylindar in the middle. Inside the Cylinder is a spiral staircase. There are two levels you can exit the staircase and look out windows to the outside. On the roof there is a steel staircase that leads to a room with a telescope. The roof of that room spins and opens up . It’s pretty cool.

Hubble Telescope mirror
This was the backup mirror made for the Hubble Space telescope. It was made using conventional optical and lens grinding techniques by the Eastman Kodak company. The mirror that went on the telescope was made by Perkin Elmer using computerised methods. Guess which mirror had flaws?
This one obviously has not been coated with a reflective surface and is kept on display at the National Air and Space Museum in Washington, DC
